You have a Spanish calendar but you don’t know the months and the dates in Spanish, here’s the list of months in a year and number one to thirty first. Spanish calendars always starts on Monday.

DAYS OF THE WEEK

Explanation:
Well, when someone ask you ¿Qué día es hoy? (what day is today?), and that person doesn’t know English, you have to answer them by saying Es..( what ever that day is) in spanish.

Real life situation:
Someone(mexican) is having a great week, and she/he asks you ¿Qué día es hoy?(what day is today?) because to them everyday seemed viernes (Friday)that week, so you answer by saying either lunes(Monday), martes(Tuesday), miércoles(Wednesday), jueves(Thursday), viernes(Friday), sábado(Saturday) domingo(Sunday) in spanish as shown in that table.

¿Qué día es hoy?
What day is today?
Es…
lunes

sábado
domingo
It’s…
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday

Note:
Days are not capitalized in Spanish.

Courtesy Phrases

Explanation:
We use courtesy phrases when we are trying to leave a good impression of ourselves to the people we are directing it to. Like when someone hands you something, you say Gracias(thanks). And they would respond by saying de nada, por nada or No hay de que which means your welcome. There are more courtesy phrases on the table.

Real life situation:
You are in a Mexican restaurant, the Mexican waiter hands you the food you ordered, but you’re stuck trying to say thank you in Spanish! You don’t remember how to say it! He doesn’t understands and says ¿Cómo?(what?) over and over again. How do you thank him, how would he reply and what are some other polite phrases you would use?!
Ex.

Gracias
Muchas Gracias
Mil Gracias Thanks
Thanks a lot.
Thanks a million.
De nada
Por nada.
No hay de qué. Your welcome.
¿Cómo? What was that? (If you didn’t catch what someone said.)
Por Favor Please!
Con permiso. (when someone’s standing in your way) EXCUSE ME.
Disculpe. (To get someone’s attention)
Perdón. (if you accidentally bump into someone)

Weather Conditions

If you want to know how to ask what the weather’s like in Spanish and know how to reply or understand the replies you receive when ask, I have your solution! The table below displays how to say these phrases!

¿Qué tiempo hace? What’s the weather like?
Hace (mucho) frío It’s (very) cold.
Hace (mucho) calor It’s (very) hot.

Hace (mucho) viento It’s (very) windy.
Hace (mucho) sol It’s (very) sunny.
Hace (mucho) fresco It’s (very) cool.
Está lloviendo It’s raining.
Está nevando It’s snowing.
Está nublado It’s cloudy.

You are about to go to school. You run downstairs and see your mom’s friend in the kitchen, she doesn’t speak much English, but knows Spanish. Your mom is already at work and your mom’s friend is to send you off to school, you don’t want to step outside to test the weather, so you ask her “What’s the weather like outside?” She looks at you confused and says, “¿qué? (what?)”. She doesn’t know what you are saying! How else do you ask her what the weather is like outside and how will you know what her response is, unless you know the phrases and words and Spanish.

Asking/telling Time

If you want to ask the time in Spanish, you can say ¿Qué hora es? There are also a few others ways you can ask, too. There are represented on the table below. You can tell someone the time by saying, es la una for it’s one o’clock or son las # (in Spanish).
¿Qué hora son?----\
What time is it?
¿Qué hora tiene?--/
Es la una.-It’s one o’clock
Son las dos, tres cuatro,…-It’s two, three, four o’clock…
…y (number of minutes after the hour)-
…y cuarto- :15
…y media- :30
…menos cuarto- :45
…menos (number of minutes before the hour) -minus (number of minutes before the hour.
When using “menos (number of minutes before the hour)” be sure to always use the next hour and not the one you are currently in.
Ex. Its 10:50 you would say Son las once menos diez (It’s 11 o’clock minus ten minutes.)

Two- dos Fifteen- quince
Three- tres Sixteen- dieciseis
Four- cuatro Seventeen- diecisiete
Five- cinco Eighteen- dieciocho
Six- seis Nineteen- diecinueve
Seven- siete Twenty-veinte /twenty-# veinti(number in Spanish)
Eight- ocho Thirty- treinte /thrity# treinte y (number in Spanish)
Nine- nueve Forty-cuarenta/Forty-# cuarenta y (number in Spanish)
Ten- diez Fifty-cincuenta/fifty-# cincuenta y (number in Spanish)
Eleven- once
Twelve- doce
Thirteen- trece
Fourteen- catorce
You would need to know the numbers in Spanish in order to tell time. There shown on the chart!

¿Cómo estás? ¡Hola! ¡Adiós! (How are you? Hello! Goodbye!)

If you want to ask someone “¿Cómo estás?” or if you want to tell them “¡Hola!” Or “¡Adiós!” You have many ways to do it! They are the following:

¿Cómo estás? ---\ ¡Hola! - Hello!

¿Qué tal? ------- How are you? ¡Buenos días! -Good Morning/day!

¿Cómo va? ---- / ¡Buenas tardes! –Good Afternoon!
¡Buenas noches! – Good Night!

Más o menos-alright

Muy Mal-Awful

Bien-good

Muy Bien!-Very good

¡Adiós! – Goodbye!

¡Chao! –Goodbye!

¡Hasta Luego! –See you later!

¡Hasta Pronto! –See you soon!

¡Hasta mañana! –See you tomorrow!

¡Qué la vaya bien! –Have a good one!

You can use this information when you are having a conversation with friend, family, and other people-you can say ¡Hola! and ¡Adiós! and you can ask them ¿Cómo estás?

Example: Your friend and her family are traveling to Chile, a Spanish-speaking country. She’s very excited and wants to practice speaking Spanish. You’re not exactly sure how to say some things. All she wants to know is how to say hello, how are you, and goodbye. You can use this chart to learn that!!
